Omar the bridge troll
Character animation for OCVB
THE BRIEF
Omaha Visitor Center wanted to do something special for the opening of the "Bob" bridge, a bridge that connects Omaha to Council Bluffs Iowa. To do that, we created animations of Omar, a bridge troll that lives under the Bob. You can view these animations through QR codes located on different parts of the bridge.
DIRECTION
Made for the families and kids walking the bridge, we wanted Omar to be lighthearted and fun-loving. I received some beautiful illustrations to start with and worked on bringing Omar to life through animation.
takeaway
I love character animation, they so complicated and take a knowledge of all of the 12 principles of animation to make a believable animation. This was the first time I felt as though I'd gotten it right, creating a sense of weight and personality in Omar that I felt captured the character and did him justice.
