3D Animation and Composite for Cannon Downriggers
THE BRIEF
Cannon makes premium downriggers, a term for deep sea anchors. This spot was created to show how the downriggers and fishfinder all seemlessly interact as part of the "One Boat Network" to help you get more fish on the line.
DIRECTION
To show the interaction between the fishfinders and downriggers, we opted for a 3D animation in a miniature model style to create something that feels visually interesting while allowing us the most latitude to showcase how the One Boat Network works.
takeaway
This was a fun exercise in making a 3D rig photorealistic, but not realistic. I took inspiration from fish tanks and low poly, this is intentional so that everything feels like a model of the real thing so that you don't get caught up in the uncanny valley of trying to make something look like a video shoot and instead you focus on the technical details of what the video is communicating.
